Why Rent a 20ft Portable Office Container
Renting makes sense when you need workspace for a defined project, a seasonal operation, or a temporary gap. You avoid the upfront cost of buying. You skip maintenance and long-term storage. And you return the unit when the job is done.
Every rental ships as a turnkey workspace. You get insulation, HVAC, lighting, outlets, and finished walls from day one. Connect to power, move in your desks, and start working. The 20ft footprint fits a standard parking space, so placement works even on tight sites.
FCMS has served Northern Colorado for over 40 years. We own our delivery trucks and handle placement with professional drivers. Your unit arrives ready to occupy from our 12-acre facility in Fort Collins.

Who Rents a 20ft Mobile Office
Short-term and mid-term projects drive most rental demand. Here are the most common use cases.
Construction contractors. Rent a field office for the life of a project. Use it for blueprints, permits, crew meetings, and daily admin. Return it when the job closes out.
Businesses in transition. Companies running renovations, relocations, or expansions rent a container office as bridge workspace. It keeps operations running while your permanent space is out of service.
Seasonal and event operations. Farms, festivals, and seasonal retailers set up a command center during peak months. The rental returns to FCMS after the season ends.
Schools and nonprofits. Organizations add temporary admin space during enrollment surges, capital campaigns, or building projects without a permanent construction commitment.
Emergency and disaster response. Agencies deploy a field office after storms, floods, or fires. Generator power keeps it running off-grid. Rental terms flex with the duration of relief operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum rental period?
One month. We prorate the first month from your delivery date. After the first month, billing continues on a monthly cycle until you request pickup.
What comes included with the rental?
Every unit ships with insulation, HVAC, electrical wiring, LED lighting, finished walls, vinyl flooring, a steel personnel door with deadbolt, windows with security bars, and an exterior floodlight. You get a turnkey office.
What power source does the unit need?
The office requires a 240V electrical connection. It also includes a 50-amp generator inlet for sites without grid power. Once connected, HVAC, lighting, and outlets work like any standard office.
How is the office delivered and picked up?
We use a roll-back truck for both delivery and pickup. The driver places the container on the ground at your site. You need a level surface and about 70 feet of clearance. No crane or forklift is needed.
Can I move the office during my rental?
Yes. A roll-back truck or forklift can relocate the unit on your site or to a new location. Contact us to coordinate relocation logistics.
Do I need a permit?
Permit requirements vary by city and county. Some jurisdictions treat container offices as temporary structures with no permit needed. Others require a placement or building permit. Check with your local building department.
What happens if the unit needs repair during my rental?
Contact FCMS directly. We handle maintenance and service issues for rental units throughout the rental period.
How does renting compare to buying?
Renting works best for projects under 12 months or uncertain timelines. Buying makes more sense for permanent placement or long-term needs. See our purchase options to compare.
